WOW

It's a sobering feeling when you find out that you've changed your educational and career goals for someone else, and they would NOT have done the same for you.

Musing While Layin in the Cut

There are times when I wonder whether or not it's time to go. The fact that leaving is even a question makes me wonder "what's REALLY good?" Why am I here? What does the future hold? How long must I wait for my true direction to manifest itself TO ME?

I'm in relax and lay in the cut mode right now. However, January will be here sooner than I know. I'd better get with it and finish one of my books before that time comes.

Next Level

Well, I'm done. I've finally finished earning my degree in Business Management. *WHEW* It was a long HARD road. Sometimes the road was MUCH harder than I expected it to be but I dug in, stuck with it, and got it done. I'm on to my next academic feat. The plan is to obtain degrees at the University of Maryland University College simultaneously. My majors will be Business Management and Human Resources. Yep, I seem to be a glutton for punishment. THAT is part of the next level.

The other part of the next level is to make some positive career changes. I'm presently looking outside of NY for another gig. Taking a gig in another state will/may require leaving the hubby here in NY. Oh well, oh, well, a sistah has gotta do what she's gotta do if she wants to get ahead. It is what it is...I say that completely tongue in cheek since this is really one of the hardest moves I'll ever make. TRUST.

It's Been A Minute

Dedication and Focus

I've always been proud of myself because of the dedication and focus I have regarding my goals. However, lately, I'm slippin. I'm not working on my cookbook. I'm not working on my book of poems. I'm not working on my fiction novel. I'm doing schoolwork, but I'm doing it half assed. SO NOT ME. I'm a bit perplexed as to where my "dedication and focus" has gone. Am I really THAT burned out? I don't think I've EVER lost my focus. That concept just baffles me because I always thought focus was second nature to me. What must I do to rededicate myself and gain focus again? Faith without works is dead the bible says..........I can pray til I'm blue in the face but if ALL I'm doing is praying I can forget it. At this point, I feel that's the only thing I'm doing. Praying.

Tired

I am so, so very tired. Tired of studying constantly. Tired of working constantly. Tired of being stressed............constantly. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to just REST. I want to rest for a few days and not work, not pick up a school book. NOT be stressed. Just a few days to sit and write if I feel like it, read for recreational purposes if I feel like it, PAINT because I love it and it relaxes me IF I FEEL LIKE IT.

I write this entry as I should be writing papers for my African American Experience and Organizational Behavior classes. School ends on the 17th and I'm behind two assignments in each class. Can a sistah take a breath? I'm tired.

Ever Wonder.......

what would happen if you reached your fullest potential? I've wondered what would happen if I even came close. Sometimes I feel like a hamster in a wheel, constantly running and getting nowhere. And, when the stress of trying to progress gets to be too much, I want to scream "STOP THIS CRAZY THING AND LET ME OFF". Then I remember that I've set high standards for myself and they aren't beyond my grasp.
